Best Man's Thought

That day, when I thought more about the title, the more uncomfortable I got. The groom has lots of men buddies but why me, I said. He is a preacher and he should call a church staff fellow, I thought. Sharing here the text and photo below which I put in my notes just after their wedding.

That superlative adjective is a gentle reminder that we are at our best when we serve.

I knew that there were others there who should have been asked but later, I humbly accepted his request because I also knew there is always joy in serving. Count it as a ministry.

Preacher Alfier is someone I looked up to especially when it comes to the ministry. We are in the same batch in high school and I have witnessed how 'worldly' he was. Just kidding! I know her past girl friends (in plural form, as in many to mention! Haha
) and most of them were crush ng campus. I do not know how he came to know the Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour, but I know it happened during those times that I was away in church and backslidden. Preacher Alfier is one of the souls who can testify 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." He was transformed to love missions and he loves the ministry. I am just beyond grateful that I get to share in this moment as his Best Man.

COMMITMENT SPEECH SAMPLE

It was August of last year when my niece asked me to help her making a commitment speech for their induction program. We tried at least to become relevant – August is Buwan ng Wika, so we decided to use most of it in Filipino; she loves Mathematics, so we agreed to use and relate Math as her introduction; she is not actually fluent in English (and she admits that), so she practiced her pagka-maka-bayan kuno! 😁 Below is the full text of her speech and I found it saved on my laptop. ****************************************** Our esteemed Guest speaker, our active School Principal, Faculty and Facilitative Staffs, Fellow Officers, Fellow Students, Ladies and Gentlemen, a pleasant morning to one and all. ...

Pamana

One historian said, "PAMANA (Heritage) is something that is passed down from one generation to the next. Heritage are also family’s tradition, values, wisdom, principles, and formed experiences that are not static but revolves over time ." This poem is inspired by 1 Thessalonians 1:3. Walang patid kong ...

Another Filipinos' Battle Cry (Election Reflection)

(With the culture and lifestyle that we have, something fascinates me with the past. I am learning to love history.) It has been said, "Change is coming!" I am wondering why the face of P5 coin has been changed.. Two icons of the past. The one was called Supremo and the other was El Presidente . Both with great influence. The one was a brave 'leader' and the other was treated as an 'idol' by his followers. Both dreamed for Phillippines' independence. The one led for Katipunan, a then secret society that ignited the flames of Phillippine revolution against the Spanish empire. The other was a capable general who waved the Philippine flag and declared the country's independence on June 12, 1898. He later brought Filipinos to Intramuros, just a step way for liberty from colonizers. But at the very moment that he needed to be strong and cunning, he chose ...
